Building Committee Report January 21, 2007
Dear Parishioners and Friends in Christ:
On December 4, 2006 we rolled out architectural renderings and building layouts for our new church campus. This is an ambitious project. After completing the master planning process during 2006 led by Tom and Aaron Hansz, the Vestry decided to engage a local architect to help bring the vision of the master plan to reality. In the summer of 2006, St. Andrew’s engaged Pearson and Peters Architects of Lexington, Kentucky to do just that. From August through November, the Building Committee worked closely with Jeff Pearson and Maureen Peters refining ideas from our parishioners and expanding upon the master plan.
For those of you who have attended Sunday services and Fr. Brannen’s pastor’s briefings you have seen these plans for facilities to house our growing ministry. Now comes the next critical step in this journey for St. Andrew’s as we seek affirmation of the vision embraced by the master plan: the gifts and pledges that will determine what we will actually build in the first phase of the St. Andrew’s campus at Dry Ridge Road and Highway 33.
The master plan document and conceptual drawings are too big for inclusion on the St. Andrew’s website. Once our initial capital campaign is completed and plans finalized for the first phase of construction, we’ll include as much of this information as possible. As in all things, the membership of St. Andrew’s is called to good stewardship as we build facilities for the present and future mission of the church.
Our membership has grown by almost 50% since our first meeting in January 2004. Average Sunday attendance and programs continue to grow and our members have continued to be very generous in their tithes and offerings. However, as everyone who has bought or built anything in the last four years knows, building a new church building from scratch will be an expensive project. While we will look principally to our own members for support, we also invite support from others who are interested in advancing the cause of Christ.
If you are interested in finding out more about St. Andrew’s, please come and visit us in Versailles on a Sunday soon. We’re easy to find (see map on this website) and some folks regularly travel an hour or more to worship Jesus Christ in the Anglican tradition. If you’re too far away or can’t travel, visit our website often. If you are supportive of St. Andrew’s ministry don’t let time or distance keep you from being a part of this ministry and do consider assisting us with your prayers and gifts. It is not often these days that folks have the chance to be part of a “church raising” and, God willing, we’ll get started later this year.

Building Committee Report April 4, 2006
Building Committee Chairman Fred Baumann
I would like to bring everyone up to speed in regards work that Tom and Aaron Hansz with Facility Planning and Resources (FPR) are doing to bring together a master plan for the St. Andrew's Church Facilities on Dry Ridge Road.
Tom and Aaron visited with us for the second time, March 31st through April 2nd. The meeting's general purpose was to consolidate and refine all the information they got from us in January on their first visit. That first visit consisted primarily of meetings with ministry heads, vestry, and building committee members. Information received from them was added to survey information previously solicited from the entire parish.
As Tom instructed us in our early conversations this process is to refine the thoughts and ideas, from general wants and needs to specific requirements that will shape and form the building we want and need to fulfill the mission of our church immediately and well into the future.
I am pleased as to how this processed has progressed. By spending this time to formulate a grand plan now, we will eliminate major mistakes that will make our overall building needs more costly. By planning all/most the pieces now, they will fit together and make for our building to work for us to further God's work.
We all have our own ideas, and a lot of those ideas will be incorporated in the building when we get to the detail blueprints, but we must be patient. We are not there yet. What we have done is to Identify the best location for the building[s] on the property. When Tom Hansz gets back to us in about two weeks, he will have to two site plans to show us.
What I like about this process to so far that this building master plan is not the vision of any one person, but rather ideas from many people. When we get this plan and review it, we will either go back to the drawing board to revise our vision, or move to the next step. The next step will be to further hone our ideas into forms we can recognize. We then will make decisions about an architect for that phase of the project. We will also determine the process of finding the right builder.
Property purchased 2005
St. Andrew's purchased a 7 acre site located at the intersection of Dry Ridge Road at Troy Pike (Kentucky Highway 33) at the Blue Grass Parkway on the south side of Versailles. With the support of the previous landowners, Paul and Linda Barnes, and several members of the parish, St. Andrew's applied to the Woodford County Board of Adjustment for a conditional use permit to build church facilities on the site. This application was unanimously approved by the Board of Adjustment at its March 7, 2005 meeting.
